Privacy Policy — HonkaiAnima

Short version

This site collects nothing about you itself. No analytics, no accounts, no forms. There is advertising, and it loads only if you allow it.

Until you accept, no ad network is contacted and nothing about your visit leaves this domain. The only other data that exists anywhere is the ordinary server log our host keeps, described below.

What this site does not do

No analytics of any kind. No Google Analytics, no page-view counter, no heatmaps.
No accounts, no logins, no newsletter, no comments.
No forms. There is nothing on this site to submit.
No affiliate links and no sponsored content. Nothing in the writing is paid for.
No fingerprinting, no session recording, no A/B testing tools.
No first-party cookie is ever set. The one thing this site stores in your browser is your advertising choice, kept in local storage on your own device and never sent anywhere.

There is no analytics dashboard behind this site, so nobody here knows which pages you read or how long you stayed. That is a real trade-off rather than a boast — it means the site is tuned using Google Search Console's aggregate query data, which reports what people searched for, never who they are.

What our host logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and served through Cloudflare's network. Like any web host, Cloudflare records ordinary request data — the IP address a request came from, the time, the URL requested, the browser's user-agent string and the response status.

This is what makes it possible to serve a page at all, and to tell a search engine crawler apart from a person or an attack. That log belongs to Cloudflare and is governed by their privacy terms, not ours. Nothing in it is exported, cross-referenced, sold or used to build a profile of anyone.

Advertising

This site carries advertising from HilltopAds, which is what pays for the domain and the time that goes into keeping these pages current.

Their tag is not on the page when it loads. It is requested only after the checks below pass, so a visitor who declines — or who simply never answers — is served exactly the site this policy described before advertising existed: requests to this domain only.

Consent. In the EU and EEA, the UK, Switzerland, and any request whose country we cannot determine, nothing loads until you click Accept. Elsewhere advertising is on by default and you can switch it off at any time, with the same effect.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends the GPC signal, advertising stays off and the Accept button is disabled. That is not overridable here.
Pages. Only the guide pages carry it. This policy, the about page, search and error pages never load an ad, whatever your choice is.
Your choice. Stored in local storage on your device, for six months, and readable only by this site. It is a record of what you clicked, not an identifier — nothing about it is sent to us or to anyone else.

Once loaded, HilltopAds and the advertising partners it works with may use cookies or similar identifiers, your IP address, device and browser details and your interactions with an ad to select and measure what you are shown. That data is handled under their terms, not ours; we never receive it and cannot connect it to anything.

Also linked in the footer of every page. Clearing this site's data in your browser resets the choice, and you will be asked again.

Third parties

Apart from the advertising described above, loading a page from this site makes requests to this domain only. There is no embedded widget, no externally hosted stylesheet and no third-party script of any other kind.

Fonts are the detail worth calling out, because most sites get this wrong by default. Linking to Google Fonts — the usual one-line approach — sends every visitor's IP address to Google before a word renders. The font used here is served from our own domain instead, so that does not happen.

The other exception is links you choose to follow. Outbound links to HoYoverse's official site and other external pages take you to services with their own policies, which apply once you are there.

One detail about those requests: this site sets a referrer policy of no-referrer-when-downgrade, which means the address of the page you were on is passed along — to the advertising partners above, and to any external site you click through to. Most sites now send only the domain. What it discloses here is which guide you were reading; there are no accounts, forms or query strings on this site that could carry anything more than that. Nothing is sent at all when the destination is an insecure connection.

Search

The search page runs entirely in your browser. The index is a static file your browser downloads, and your query is matched against it locally — it is never sent to this site or anywhere else, because there is no server to send it to.

Children

This site is not directed at children and knowingly collects no information from anyone, of any age. There is nothing here to collect it with.

Changes to this policy

If anything above stops being true — a different ad network, analytics, a form — this page changes at the same time, not afterwards. That is how the advertising section got here: it was written in the same change that added the ad loader. A privacy policy that lags the site is not an omission, it is a false statement.
